Pretty and Unusual Senior Blue Eyed DSH Dilute Calico Female On-hold. Almond is an unusual, beautiful, blue-eyed 11 year old DSH Dilute Calico, spayed female. She has the prettiest big blue eyes with flecks in her eyes. She is extremely sweet and craves attention. She came to us with a life-threatening uterus infection, but her surgery was successful and she healed amazingly well given the severity of her condition and her age. She is a little sad because her brother was adopted without her. They weren't bonded, but she misses the companionship. She would do best in a home where she has either human or animal companionship (or both) much of the time. She gets along well with of her feline roommates as long as they don't bother her. She has also done well with all of the children she's met so far, but does not want to be picked up by any young children, but should be O.K. with calm, cat-friendly children who know how to be gentle with her. She was with cat-friendly dogs in her former home as well. Come meet this unusual, pretty & sweet lady at Hero's Pets, 8246 W Bowles Ave, Littleton, CO to see if you have the lasting home she needs.

Handsome Big Adult American Medium to Long Hair White with Brown Tabby Male FIV+ Barney is a big, very handsome, 5 year old Medium to Long Haired White with Brown tabby markings neutered male. He is friendly very sweet and loves pets and attention. He can also be very relaxed and laid back. He was rescued from being put down at another shelter, so we don't have much background on him, but his foster said he was a sweet, quiet cat who did not care for her well-behaved 2 year old. For some reason, he is just afraid of children (possibly past bad experience before he was rescued). She also doesn't think he'd do well with dogs. He gets along great with his docile FIV+ roommates, esp. Fred who he came to us with, but they are not bonded. He is FIV+ which is the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. It is only contagious to other cats. It means his immune system is a little weaker than average, but most cats with FIV live long healthy lives if they are in a safe, indoor only, calm environment . They have been adopted with other FIV+ cats and many people have adopted FIV+ cats who have non-FIV cats without their non-FIV cats contracting it. Please discuss with your Veterinarian to help you decide. There is a vaccination for FIV that you can discuss with you Veterinarian as well. He does not care for young children, but might be O.K. with older, calm, cat-friendly children. Come meet this sweet & handsome boy.

They were adopted as kittens and recently returned. She is doing well with the other cats in the room as long as they don't bother her. We don't know about dogs, but perhaps calm, cat-friendly dogs that won't bother them would be O.K. Pretty, young, small DSH Grey with White FeLV+ Female Midge is a very pretty, small white with grey markings DSH 1 year old spayed female that is FeLV + (Feline Leukemia Virus). She can be a little shy off the bat, but once she knows you she is friendly, sweet, enjoys attention and to play. She is sad because her brother, Marley passed away from Lymphoma. Luckily she is doing well with her current roommate, Serena and would love to be adopted with her or her other roommate KJ (DSH black), both are also FeLV positive. Please consider her and her friends so they don't live out their lives in their small room at the shelter. There is a discount for adopting more than one. She was rescued from being put down at another shelter after fending for themselves on the streets, and transferred to us. FeLV positive cats can live long, relatively healthy lives in a calm environment with good care. Many even go into remission. She needs to be with other FeLV + cats or be the only cat. She needs a safe, in door only, low-stress home. She should only be around cat friendly children who will play gently with her and won’t stress her out. Pretty Little, Special Needs DSH Brown Tabby Female Older Kitten Khali is a pretty 10 month old Short Hair Brown Tabby spayed female kitten. She is listed as Special Needs because she is partially blind (which is a large part of her fearfulness) and is very shy and not trusting of humans. She will need an experience cat person who is willing to give her a safe space and work with her to gain trust of humans. It will take quite some time and patience for her to adjust to a new home, and new people but once she feels safe, she will blossom into the wonderful companion we know she has the potential to be. She enjoys pets from people she knows with the feather end of a wand toy and has even allowed some direct pets as long they move slowly and carefully. She is also playful and will need a home where she will be played with on a regular basis (which is another way to gain her trust). She's even done well with treat motivation, eating some baby food (without onions or garlic) from a spoon being held by one of our volunteers that has been working with her. She does great with the docile cats in the room and seems to enjoy calm feline companionship. We don't know about dogs, but perhaps a calm cat-friendly dog that won't bother her might be O.K. If you have children in your home, she cannot be with young, loud or over-active children, but might be O.K. with older, calm, cat-friendly and cat-experienced children who are able to recognize that she isn't a kitten you can just approach, pet or pick up, and would be very gentle and patient with her and understand her shyness and fear. Come meet this special and pretty little girl kitten to see if you have the safe, calm, patient, lasting home she needs.

We rescued her from a trailer park where she was starving and kids were throwing rocks at her so we don't have any background on her, but it is apparent she needs to regain her trust of humans. She is loves to play and is learning how to play with toys. She came to us with her daughters (all of whom have been adopted), one older male kitten (Tarrful) and another female, Enya (who may or may not be her kitten as well). Both of these older kittens are also extremely shy and fearful and will need help with socialization. It would be great if she could be adopted with one or both of them, but not required. There is a discount for adopting more than one ;>) She will need lots of time and patience to adjust to a new home. Handsome Small Adult Wobbly Cat DSH Brown Tabby WIth Black Male (and his twin sister) Romeo is a very handsome small 5 yr old neutered male DSH Brown Tabby with black stripes. He is very loving and enjoys attention and to play. He needs to stay with his twin sister, Juliet. They are Special Needs due to having Cerebellar Hypoplasia. Cats with this condition are very wobbly and therefore often called Wobbly Cats. They make wonderful companions. Their intelligence is normal and their condition does not cause them pain, only balance issues. They are vulnerable so they must have padded environments where they don't have access to tall furniture or stairs. Carpet helps them grab on for balance as well. This condition has been known to improve a bit when they settle into calm, stable environments. Stress makes their condition worse. They typically live long and healthy lives and because they are a bit more dependent on their humans, they often build very strong bonds with their guardians. They have great “catitude” and possess incredible determination. Romeo came to us with his twin sister, Juliet, who also has CH (caused by in-utero exposure to Feline Distemper) from a shelter they were going to be put down because of their condition. Once we rescued them, they were quickly adopted, but their adopter passed away and they were alone for quite some time and traumatized. They are doing incredibly well considering not only their condition, but also what they've been through in their short lives. Romeo is incredibly sweet and enjoys attention. Romeo loves to have you snuggle his face and give him lots of kisses. He does not care for other cats other than his bonded sister and they stress him out too much to be around so they need to be the only cats or away from other cats. They tend to not eat enough when they are stressed, so their eating habits will need to be monitored as well. They should not be around dogs or younger children at all. They should only be around calm, older, cat-friendly children. A Home Inspection will be required prior to adoption. They are currently in foster care, so please call the shelter (303) 274-2264 to meet this sweet, pretty little young lady and her twin brother.

Handsome Adult DSH Black and White Tuxedo (with one white pant leg) Male Chung Wang is a handsome 5 yr old, short-haired Black and White Tuxedo (with one white pant leg) neutered male. He likes to be called Chungy Bear. He is shy and fearful of humans and it takes a little time and patience for him to trust you. He enjoys being petted once he trusts you and is not stressed out. He also enjoys playing. As a young kitten, he lived in the streets for a while and had to fend for himself. He has also apparently been traumatized by humans, so he needs some extra TLC. He gets along with and craves the companionship of docile other cats. He gets along great with his other docile and shy roommate, Sunshine (another shy 6 yr old DSH male who is a red tabby) and they've been together at the shelter so long they have bonded so they need to be adopted together. There is a discount for adopting more than one. We don't know about dogs, but he might be O.K. with a calm, cat-friendly dog with proper, slow, introduction techniques. He should not be around children, except, calm, older, cat-friendly children that will be calm and gentle with him and give him the space he needs. He will need patience and time to adjust to a new home, but he is coming around to trust humans again. Come meet this handsome young man and his bonded friend, Sunshine to see if you have the heart, home and patience to help them blossom into the great companions that we know they are.

Small Adult, Sweet DSH Brown Tabby FelV+ Female Serina is a very pretty, and smaller (she's the size of a chubby older kitten) short-haired brown tabby 6 year old Spayed female. We rescued her from being put down as a kitten because she tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia). Many cats with FeLV can live long lives with a calm environment and good care. She is very sweet and enjoys being petted and played with. She can only be other cats who are FeLV positive. She gets along great with her FelV roommates, but we are worried about her because her closest friend at the shelter, Flower, who'd been with her the entire time she's been here, just passed away. She has spent her entire life since she was a kitten in her little room at the shelter, so please consider adopting her so she doesn't live out her entire life here (or worse pass away without ever having had a real home). She'd love to be adopted with one of her other FeLV roommates to help her adjust to the loss of Flower and the change of environment. She might be O.K. with a calm cat-friendly dog. She should not be around young, loud or really active children, She needs a calm home where she can avoid stress to keep her healthy. Come meet this sweet young lady.
